"Run for Your
Life" by James Patterson (co-authored with Michael Ledwidge) follows Kyle
Craig, a former elite military operative who has faked his own death and is
living a quiet life as a school janitor in Manhattan under the alias "Jack
Morgan." He's trying to escape his past and the dangerous people he
crossed.
However, Kyle's carefully
constructed anonymity is shattered when he witnesses a brutal murder and
instinctively intervenes, revealing his lethal skills. This act draws him back
into the world he desperately tried to leave behind.
The victim of the murder
is connected to a powerful and shadowy organization that Kyle had tangled with
in his past. They realize he's still alive and are determined to eliminate him.
Kyle finds himself on the run, not only from this dangerous group but also from
the authorities who are suspicious of his sudden reappearance and his
involvement in the crime.
As Kyle fights to survive,
he also tries to protect the innocent people around him, including a young boy
who witnessed the initial murder. He must use all his training and cunning to
evade his pursuers, uncover the truth behind the murder, and ultimately
confront the forces that want him dead.
The novel is a fast-paced
thriller filled with action, suspense, and twists as Kyle navigates the
dangerous streets of New York City while trying to stay one step ahead of his
relentless enemies and reclaim some semblance of a normal life. His past and present
collide, forcing him to confront the reasons he went into hiding in the first
place.
