The Adventures
of Tom Sawyer follows the
mischievous and imaginative Tom Sawyer, a young boy living in the

Tom lives with his Aunt
Polly and often gets into trouble at school and at home. He skips school,
fights with other boys, and daydreams about adventure. One of his most famous
tricks is convincing other boys to paint a fence for him, making the
chore seem like a fun activity.
The story takes a serious
turn when Tom and his friend Huckleberry Finn witness a murder in
a graveyard. They see Injun Joe kill Dr. Robinson and blame another man.
Afraid of Injun Joe, the boys keep it a secret at first.
Later, Tom, Huck, and
their friend Joe Harper run away to live like pirates on an island.
Everyone thinks they are dead, but they return during their own funeral,
surprising the town.
Eventually, Tom finds the
courage to tell the truth about the murder in court, helping to free the
innocent man. In the exciting conclusion, Tom and Huck go into a cave and
