Veronika is a psychological and drama novel by Brazilian author Paulo Coelho, published in 1998. Veronika, a young and beautiful girl, gets bored with the routine of life and attempts suicide. When this attempt fails, she is taken to a mental hospital. During her stay in the mental hospital, Veronika begins to discover herself while getting to know people from other worlds, and then, as expected, she regrets it.
